There are several ways to update the system software on a Macintosh running Mac OS 10.3 and later.
- The system can be set to automatically check for updates and prompt users when updates are available. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu and then click on the Software Updateicon. Check on the checkbox to the left of the Check for Updates: and then select Daily, Weeklyor Monthy.
- Users can select Update software from the Apple menu.
- Users can open System Preferences, select Software Update and then click on the Check Now button to update the system software.
- Select About This Mac from the Apple menu and then click on the Software Update button.
- Major software updates need to be purchased from Apple because there are no free system software update.
