Using FireWire target disk mode to transfer files between computers.

FireWire target disk mode allows a Macintosh computer with a FireWire port (the target computer) to be used as an external hard disk (HD) when connected to another computer (the host). Once a target computer is started as a FireWire hard disk and is available to the host computer, you can copy files to or from that volume. In addition, computers whose HD has developed problems can be mounted in target disk mode for the purpose of having diagnostics run on the ailing HD.
For detailed information about connecting two computers via target disk mode, see Apple support.
Note: Target disk mode will only show internal HDs, in particular the internal HD designated as the master HD on the Ultra ATA bus.
Note: Target disk mode does not work with blue-and-white G3 Towers or the original version of the clamshell iBooks.
